The underlying principle of Chiropractic is that a healthy spine facilitates a healthy life. Chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. By offering drug-free spinal health care, dietary and lifestyle advice, Chiropractors help you to lead a healthy life and maintain wellbeing.
What to Expect
Your First Appointment
At your first appointment, your Chiropractor will work through a complete medical history and physical examination to gain a full understanding and thorough picture of any presenting concerns.
Your Chiropractor will then explain the purpose of Chiropractic and answer any questions you may have. The proposed treatment plan and summary of findings will be explained to you at this stage.
You will then receive Chiropractic care if appropriate. The first appointment will take approximately 1 hour.
Further appointments last approximately 30 minutes. Sessions may include use of massage techniques, exercise and lifestyle advice to complement Chiropractic where appropriate.
The number of appointments you require will vary depending on the nature and severity of your presenting complaint.
Some patients choose to receive regular Chiropractic care to allow their body to function to its optimum. Your Chiropractor will be more than happy to discuss the benefits of this with you.
What to Wear
Light loose-fitting clothing is preferred, for example leggings or sportswear. You may be required to remove some outer layers of clothing for certain aspects of the physical assessment stage. However, a gown can be provided for your comfort. Please speak to your Chiropractor at your appointment if you have any questions.
During your first visit, your Chiropractor will explain post treatment advice, and any specific steps you can take to help your recovery. After each session it can be helpful to keep moving ie a gentle walk, drink plenty of water and rest where possible, together with your own personalised after care advice. Please feel free to speak with Anna if you are concerned about anything during or following your session.
